As a huge Spoons fan I always wondered why all their
back catalog was not re-issued on cd.
I know that most of their lp's were released on the Ready records label and
(c) under them. The last two Spoons albums were released under the
Anthem records label. I have called & emailed the folks at Anthem quite a few
times to inquire as if they ever plan to re-issue Bridges Over Borders,
and Vertigo Tango, on cd but they always reply with the same
" We have no plans at this time to release those titles ".
I don't know, maybe it's time for Spoons fans to send tons of emails to
Anthem and show them their is a demand and market for the Spoons
material.
I guess the bean counters at record labels don't see things as fans do !

I just bought the Talkback re-release at the Rose Theatre show on Friday... and yes, it sounds awesome. My album has been "parked" for years, so it's been a LONG time since I heard it. Last I heard it - back in the day - with my new digital stereo and headphones - I was listening intently to the various synth beats and harmonies bounce between the speakers... it was great hearing that all over again. Quiet World REALLY hit home. What an overwhelming song... shame it didn't get the recognition it deserved. The interplay between Gord's and Sandy's voice among the harmonies is just so beautiful.

I also bought 'Talk Back' at the concert last Friday. 'My Favourite Page' and 'Quiet World' are the new surprise songs for me. Gord mentioned they will not release 'SFN' and 'BOB' on CD, but they may release on iTunes. Regarding 'Quiet World', I can't stop playing it on my way to and from work. It really is stunning. I can picture it being played on Miami Vice and yes it should have been released as a single. Love it when Sandy sings: of mine after Gord sings: In this quiet world. Very haunting! Is it just me or does Sandy sound like Kate Bush in this song?

I'm not sure if it's mentioned anywhere, but Talk Back is also available on iTunes.

Agreed. I just picked up "Limited Edition" and "Talk Back" a few weeks ago. 'Quiet World', without a doubt, has always been one of my favourite Spoons songs. I remember hunting down the various vinyl in the mid-90's and doing, painstaking, transfers to DAT and then CD-R when I was selling off my LPs. It would've been nice to have seen "Unexpected Guest" included as a bonus track since it was a B-Side for Talk Back.

I will admit the remastering job that was done on "Talk Back" is quite impressive.

That's rather unfortunate that Gord mentioned "SFN" and "BOB" not seeing physical releases. I'm guessing the thought is that they wouldn't sell enough of the titles to warrant the cost of producing such a beast. In that case, I'd love to see them do "limited editions" for sale at the shows that are actually done from the master tapes at 16-Bit/44.1kHz instead of "lossy" MP3's/etc. on iTunes. I value the fidelity of my recordings and don't mind making MP3's for use in the car/portable player but when at home, I prefer to listen to FLAC rips of my CDs.

Perhaps if "limited editions" at the show aren't possible, maybe USB sticks with lossless versions? Or a download link for those who've bought them from iTunes or from this site directly? I don't know...
